Ghaziabad Development Authority or GDA was established in 1960. The Improvement Trust and later GDA has constructed lacs of houses and plots in various categories, like site/services, ews, MIG, LIG, HIG apartments. Kaushambi, Vashali, Indirapurm, Raj Nagar Extenstion, Govindpuram, Karpooripuram, Swarna Jayanti Puram and Partap Vihar Hindon area in new residential neighborhoods are the next Ghaziabad. The authority is the construction of commercial complexes in these colonies to establish the needs of people.

With this, coupled with the new Master Plan, which envisages a new residential zone, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) opened a new vista to private developers for conceptualization and creation of well planned, group housing complexes and townships for the qualitycon - scious. The USP of this area is an adjoining perennially green and unpolluted belt, which will remain undisturbed owing to the fact that Ghaziabad Development Authority has declared 500 acres along Hindon river as a green belt and banned all construction activity in the area.

In addition, Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has taken up major development projects in Ghaziabad like the construction of 17 new flyovers for signal-free travel, a 6/8-lane expressway for faster connectivity, and has also proposed a 7,800 MW power generation project at Dadri, which will provide uninterrupted power supply to the area.

Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) also has plans to create a land bank in excess of 2,000 acres to for an upcoming IT hub encompassing the proposed 1,284-acre SEZ and an Institutional Area on 141 acres. To ensure a holistic development of the area, plans are also on to develop a sports complex of international standards on about 434 acres and a golf course confirming to international standards on 245 acres. To expedite the plan process, the developers association is playing a crucial role in convincing the government to invest in developing civic amenities in the area. The association comprises well-established developers like Ashiana Homes, SVP, SG Estates, Landcraft, KDP Infrastructure Pvt Ltd, Shreya Developwell Pvt Ltd, Shree Energy Developers Pvt Ltd, Ajnara Farms & Services, Ascent Buildtech, Nitishree, and also includes upcoming developers like High End Infratech, Krishna Asset Reconstruction, MCC Builders, Quantam Buildwell Pvt Ltd and Shomit Finance Limited.

Besides the construction and development of properties in Ghaziabad, the Ghaziabad Development Authority also runs projects for social and physical infrastructure. The development of the city of Ghaziabad is the sole responsibility of Vikas Pradhikaran or Ghaziabad Development Authority. These development projects including roads, overpasses, power houses or power stations, telephone exchanges, Mother Dairy booths, hospitals, nursing homes, community centers and public meeting rooms, parts of the district and health clubs, schools and other institutions, etc. These infrastructure developments by Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) have been very successful and have reached the mark of adequacy.
